About the Course

Beyond Urban has facilitated two, week-long capacity-building training programmes on GIS for town planners from the DTCP Department, Government of Karnataka, conducted at the State Institute of Urban Development (SIUD), Mysuru. Each program engaged 20–30 planners and focused on building practical, hands-on capabilities in applying geospatial technologies for GIS-based master planning.

The sessions covered end-to-end GIS workflows including spatial data preparation, georeferencing, LULC analysis, spatial queries, site suitability assessment, and mobile-based data collection, with a strong emphasis on real-world applications to support planning and decision-making.
